Cactuses

Cactus's
[10 Points]

I think that rain comes then rain drops fall down it soaks in the
thick stems like it is a sponge. It is because sponges suck the
water in and it is cool.  Then next time it rains the plant
can be started from the seeds or, the shoots of an, older plant.

  1. Kia ora Healy,

I think you are right. In the African desert it doesn't often rain but when it does the Cacti absorb the water through their roots. They often store the water as it could be weeks until the next downpour in a desert. Some species of cacti .need 3 millilitres (ml) of water a day to survive. That is minimal water.

The Summer Learning Journey activity asked you to answer the following math question. If you had to feed a cactus 3 ml of water every day, how much water would you feed the cactus in one year? Explain to us how you worked it out.

To earn points for this question Healy, could you please edit your post and add your math equation.

I am looking forward to reading it soon,
    Megan :)
